Anybody at anytime may feel unhappy about something that has happened to them or have a sense that life is not as good as it could be - not everyone has the support of family and friends.
The relationship with a counsellor can be very valuable. Your counsellor is not a friend and not a relative, they will not advise you or tell you what to do. Through your time meeting together you will have the opportunity to explore how you are feeling and work out ways of balancing life again.
Some reasons you may think about counselling are:
- problems in the family or at work
- you are feeling anxious or depressed
- someone close to you has died
- you are going through a divorce or separating from your partner
- you are a young person having difficulties at school or at home
- you are parents having problems with your children and do not have anyone to discuss this with
Who can see an f2f counsellor?
- Deaf BSL user
- Deafened person
- Hard of Hearing person
- Deafblind person
- Ushers person
- Family members
- CODA's
- HMFD's
- Anyone with a connection to Deafness through work or family
Most of the time a session will be one to one with a counsellor, sometimes a counsellor will work with a couple if the difficulty is with their relationship.
